Any suggestions for mom and toddler to do outside the house that does not include Chucky Cheese?

Are there any things to do outside of the house that don't cost $$$, that are kid friendly, indoor, and fun? For active people. We went to Chucky's and Safari Sam's, it wasn't what I expected. There was no area for crawler/baby. He is active and moving all over the place.


If you say the mall, don't. Our mall allows kids that are bigger than the height requirement to play on all the toys. No thanks, they are too wild to be around a crawling baby.|||go to a local park or zoo|||It really depends where you live. I agree with the person who mentioned recreation centers, many of them have Mommy and Me type of play dates and exercise classes, and all sorts of other things that are either free or very inexpensive that your little one would really enjoy.





Other places that you may want to consider are Mc Donalds with indoor play places, while they are not the most sanitary things in the world, if you go during a school day in the early morning hours there is next to no one there and your little one will be able to have free run/crawl of the place. Some Mc Donalds even have a separate infant section.





Not a free activity, but maybe you want to consider joining a Gymboree type class or something else like that, if you are wanting your infant to be around other children, and have a lot of fun.





Or, you could start your own play date group, buy your own ball pit on clearance, and let the fun begin!|||I don't know where you live, but if the climate is good, take your kid to the beach to play in the sand, or a park.|||Well, if your baby is mostly crawling, he's actually more of an infant than a toddler. Anyway, you're right!!! some places that are so called "for kids of all ages" can actually be dangerous for little ones. Is there a children's museum in your city or near your town? They have a variety of exhibits for all ages. The ones for the infants and younger toddlers are usually vacant, as most kids are older and prefer to run around than play with the exhibits. Have you tried your local zoo? Some zoos have indoor exhibits and play areas for younger kids to keep them out of the heat and weather. I would recommend a Gymboree center (not the store, but the indoor play place), but they charge for that. I don't know how much, as i never took my son to one. Other than that, I don't know of any indoor places that you're looking for. You can try the outdoors... that's way fun and FREE. Like a reputable clean park... If he's all over the place, he'll really enjoy crawling around the grass or sandbox. What about a beach? If you're near one, he might also enjoy tooling around the sand and feeling the textures. There are some (rare) toddler parks, that cater only to smaller children. The rides and attractions are VERY simple and safe, so it keeps the easily bored older kids away; especially when they see a small child around. They don't want to hurt him or make you mad.
